  5. Pictures lie all the time. If the bass doesn't seem very orange to you in your home lighting, how does it look in daylight?

    Always trust your own eyes.

More important, look at the other colors in the picture, like the light blue of the drawers behind it. Is that blue in the photo, accurate? Does it look like the color you see with your own eyes?

the colors are actually very very close to how it looks in person. I'm still going to name it Mr. Orange :p

mchildree how did your 5/04 compare to the NS. I know it is an apple to orange comparision, but I want to hear what you think of the two instruments :p

I'd say that bass is barely over a 6.8 on the orange meter.

Ever see a movie "A Nighmare before Christmas"? I have an orange bass (Esh Impact, slab) that I have named Jack the Pumpkin King. Mine is much more orange than yours. My Upton bass is a bit orange as well in bright light, hmmmm.

Not only is my Engelhardt EM-1 orange, but different shades of orange, all in a glorious sunburst finish.

Sorry, missed this question earlier. Email me and I'll give you a detail comparison if you want to know. But you don't want to know. :D

Seriously, I still say that the Strunal is a very nice bass for the money spent. But not in the same league as the New Standard...really, it isn't a fair comparison.

Is it true the orangier a bass is, the juicer the sound?

Bass Greaser, do you know if Dave Curtis (an EB player in San Diego) is still playing in the area? I moved out of SD in '96, but we used to talk shop in between sets when I played at Patricks and he played next door at Croce's in the Gaslamp Quarter. Nice guy and a muthaf----r on his instrument.
I was curious if he was still active out there.
