Damn you, you stoker of GAS!
Hey, no one is forcing you to read TB!
hi, i wanted to ask if there are substantial differences between standard pb-20 and the jazz jb20 (which i like best but is not available at the moment) ..... advice if you change the pick ups?
One is a Precision bass and the other is a Jazz bass. There are about ten thousand threads on TalkBass that describe the difference between a Precision bass and a Jazz bass.
I wanted to say the same, I just didn't want to assume he didn't know that level of difference... Perhaps he meant weight? Quality?
Posting pictures of those instruments is surely inciting me to read it!
DAMMIT!! 'My mind keeps telling me nooo'. I'm gonna have trouble sleeping if I don't get one of those Enhanced Jazz Basses, the price, the looks, the sound (YouTube) 'way too tempting.
I bought one of the enhanced MM/P basses and it's a keeper for sure! I replaced the preamp and added some coil choice switching, but it was totally fine as is.
I know you think you're helping but ... "dangling the carrot" isn't helping; I'M A SICK MAN w/ Serious GAS!
Hoo boy you are on the wrong forum if you thought people here would stop you from buying basses...
You need to hang out on guitar forums for that kind of attitude.... <shiver>
Oh, I KNOW I'm not helping! After the mods I made (new bridge MM pickup, different preamp and switching options) this hangs with almost any bass I've owned.
Here's what mine looks like now:
That's Awesome Dude! ... of course IWOJ. (I was only joking) Great Job though, and congrats; Very nice Bass.
This (Blue one) is the one I really want, (I have enough Basses with/in 'Natural' finish). 'first (hopefully only) thing I'll do is replace that white pickguard with a (brown) tort guard and change those knobs too; If it sounds good to me, I'm keeping everything stock, just a fresh set of strings and a few adjustments.
I couldn't decide, so at one point I had both.
I no longer have the Blue one, but the Natural is still with me.
That's the spirit!
It's both a philosophy & a lifestyle when it comes to basses.
It's never disappointed me yet.
It would disappoint my bank account.
Curious: what new pre-amp did you use? Thomann has one. And what pickup brand? Thnx
I do like the blue, but I have enough blue basses:
