i played a really cool headless bass...

    it had one pickup that you could move up and down to change the tone.
    it had two metal rods on the sides to move the pup
    it was like a stein but with this wierd pup mover thinger.
    anyone knows what it is?
    it weighed nothing!!
    it had great slap sound. i could play this thing on my shoulder to i feel asleep!

    That is the Westone Rail bass. Its name comes from (and this is just a wild guess) from one of two reasons...

    1) Peter Westone Jr. was a bass builder. Peter senior was a Railroad worker. He hated the fact that Jr. didn't follow in his footsteps, but as tribute to his father, he named the bass "The rail"

    or

    2) It's got rails for a body.

    Does anyone know which is true?
