    So I finally did it.

I ordered an SX from Rondo today:

I am excited, and kinda nervous at the same time. Have it on 2nd day FedEx. I'll post pictures when it gets here. :)

Definitely the best looking SX, IMO.

Congrats! I purchased the same bass on Monday, except I got the 3TS version with the black pickguard. It arrives on Monday... I hope to post a positive review with pics once I get it set up. I plan to spend a good bit of time with it once I get it to fully evaluate and tweak!

Wish they made a 5 string that looked like that.

The black pick guard version seemed a little plain to me. I wanted something with just a tad more flare.

Why wouldn't the pickups line up?

And what are generally the first things I need to do to make it playable after shipping? I've never ordered a bass online bfore.

the pick up slots were just routed off on mine so the pole pieces did not line up

Don't know what they look like in person but those pictures are beautiful.

    Playability? Let us know.

I think you will be pleased with your bass and experience with Rondo. Kurt and Rondo's customer service is excellent!

Very nice bass! The pup cover and ash tray don't do a thing for me. They remind me of curb feelers on a car, but that's just my HO.

I have that bass. It no longer has the pickup guard and ashtray, and I put a different tort guard on. I hardly had any set up work to do, I just tightened the truss rod a little to decrease the relief. You might not have to do a thing to it. I like the stock pickups just fine, as well. I suspect you'll be happy with your purchase.

I think you be glad you did. I have a couple, a Tele repro, a few gig bags, cases and a neck that I should have bought 4 of.Rondo Service is excellent and the quality is not what you might think. I even have a couple of guitar friends who bought Jazz types after seeing what I did to mine.

I wish rondo made "higher end" p basses

  19. 2 other possible reasons for pickups not lining up with the strings would be neck pocket routed improperly or bridge mounted wrong. Just something to check for when it arrives. These are a great value and if you decide to hot rod it later they get even better.

I was thinking about putting a BA bridge on it and replacing the tuners if I needed to with some grovers or hipshots.

Also, been looking into EMG J pickups, since I love EMGs.

As far as the pup and bridge covers go, I like them for the aesthetic, not sure what the purpose of them is actually. I like the pull bar though, first time I've gotten a bass with any sort of installed finger accessories.

Think this would be a good fit?
