I put ashtrays on the P bass and they're too shiny

    I was reading the other thread about aging/tarnishing screws. Will the saltwater trick work on the chrome plate "astrays" you put over the bridge and pickup on the P bass?

    Would sandpaper or steel wool take the shine down?

    spector basses
    steel wool works real well and doesnt leave a defined egde or line like sand paper will/can
