well i am sorta new at bass and this is my first post here but i need some replys for these simple question all u experts prob know! -1.What does it mean to "hammer" a note? beacuse it is in alot of bass tabs i get and i dont know how to do it. -2.How do you tune your bass to drop-d or drop-c? -3.For a begginer is a Fender Squier P-Bass a good bass thx dave
You slam the note with your left hand finger rather than making it sound using your right hand. (I.e. if you're right-handed) You tune down your E-string to D or C, i.e. down a whole step or two whole steps. Yes.
oh k here we go 1. a hammer on is when u ring the open string of the note u wanna play, then slam your finger down on the note u want to play. I do it alot in punk stuff, especially MxPx. 2. Tuning your bass to drop D is when u drop the low E string, or top string on a 4 string bass, one whole note, dropped C is 2 whole notes. Dropping it to D makes it pretty floppy, but its manageable, dropping it to see is a nightmare. 3. A squier is a pretty good bass to start out on. Because fender is probably the biggest guitar company around its easy to pimp out their basses once u want sumthing a little better. If you want a pretty sweet punk tone put a seymour duncan quarter pounder in that squier and u got a pretty nice bass. well i was assuming u are a punk fan according to your name. Hope this helps.
