I set up I want to make.

I've been having this idea to mod or form a bass with the current characteristics:

    -Fret-less (mahogany neck or ebony)
    -Nylon strings
    -34" scale

The obvious approach for me was to get a semi-hollow fret-less bass and replace the strings. So far I haven't found one in sale. I've been tempted to buy a fret less jazz bass and just put the nylon strings on but there's something in me wanting to try that semi-hollow sound.

Any ideas how I can accomplish that bass set up?

If you're talking about non-metallic nylon strings, you're going to have to use a different pickup like a piezo. Normal pickups are magnetic, and they need steel strings.
