{} {} {} 1972 SVT 1970’s Alembic B-15 birch cabinets. And my trusty P Bass. I will be doing some work on these cabinets to restore them a bit.
The both cabs were loaded with JBL K 140 & 145 - 15” speakers. They did weigh more than the head but were not too difficult to move since they have handle and we always had dolly’s. The head in that case was easy to wheel around.. we always tried to minimize the amount of lifts.
Wow! My very first rig (mid 70's) was a Traynor YB head (don't remember the model) and a matching Traynor 2x15. Lugging that around was not fun. I went to a Peavey combo amp, then a Fender combo until the early 2000's and went back to separate head and (smaller) cabs.
I had a similar rig back then. SVT with 2-2x15s loaded with SROs. I liked it better then the single 8x10
Those weren't the days! Back in the 70-80's, I used to slug around a Cerwin Vega 18" in a Voice of the Theater cabinet loaded with the 18" facing rearward and 10" facing forward. Used an old acoustic 370 amp to power it up. I'm tired just thinking about them....
I had a Sunn 200S back in the day. Two 15" JBL D140F's and the head was about 50-60lbs. What a rig that was!
Three identical Trace Elliot AH400SMX-1048H-1818T stacks, plus a full effects rack, plus up to 4 basses. I always prayed that my casters and dollies would never fail me. Today I worship the patron saint of class D amps, pedalboards, direct interfaces, and in-ear monitors.
What's this "used to?" I know someone who still does. I mean, yeah he's crazy. I'm all about the Barefaced micro cabs and stuff. But, you know...
I'd post a photo if I hadn't spilled half a cup of coffee into my PC. I don't have my pictures here and don't really understand my wife's PC anyway
On one of his YouTube videos he tells a story about a tour he was on and he had a rig like this one pictured. The crew at the venue set up his massive amp thinking it was the PA. @5:50
