i had a bass in my cart at sweetwater yesterday. i stopped to consider for a few minutes and bang! someone else bought it, and sweetwater had automatically added the other one they had to my cart. alas, as i went to buy it, someone else was a minute ahead of me so i missed buying the same make and model twice within a few minutes
She who hesitates, waits. Or loses out, in this case. Always let GAS rule and buy without hesitation.
not amazing, but i want a mustang with a rosewood fingerboard, red preferred or blue. fender is no longer using rosewood for fingerboards, so the newer basses and the up and coming basses all have pau fero fingerboards.
bummer I hesitated on the Squier CV60 p-bass in fiesta red. Now they're not making them anymore and IF you can find one, they're often north of 600 dollars.
I suffer from a bit of anxiety over stuff that's available. Last weekend I spotted a couple of used tube amps available within 100 miles of me & instead of waiting for my cabinet to arrive I booked straight out to check out those amps, before someone else bought them. On SW others are going to buy that lightest weight bass out from under you. Turns out the tube amp I bought had only been in stock for 3 days & I'd bet money it would have been gone by the time my cabinet arrived.
I'm curious the difference between rosewood and pau ferro. I own an early 70s Mustang with a rosewood board. It's presently with a relative who's learning bass. Mine is de-fretted.
I was luckier today with an order from GC almost 1000 miles away for a used bass. I ordered through my local GC and just received a notice that it shipped.
i can totally understand that - i've had stuff sell out from under me in stores several times. and once we got lucky - my husband paid for a jackson V and they said they put it in back, but when we picked it up a few days later, they had it for sale on the floor! it's a darker wood than pau fero, and also i find that harder fingerboards can add a hint of brightness that i'm not crazy about. good for you! what did you get?
Does Sweetwater remember what you've looked at there and then taunt you with ads for it where ever you might go on the net? They do to me. I could imagine something similar happening if I suddenly decided I wanted one of those items.
they sure do! i've been seeing that bass from sweetwater all day everywhere i go even though i can't buy it there
Their VM P5 prices are climbing too. I’ve seen them on reverb for more than what they were going for new.
I like Sweetwater and have bought way too much gear from them. But they have some wicked cookie-based ad stuff going on. Stalkers!
I have a 2016/17 fender jazz with the p.f. Fingerboard. Honestly cannot tell the difference in sound, feel, or look compared to rosewood. Maybe I just got lucky?
