I absolutely love this finish so I want to see what's out there.

    Thanks!

Can you identify the Luthier from the foot in the corner of the picture?

    Yes Yes of course...

I believe it's caused by fungus on dead wood.

Looks like the shoe of a Dingwall lutheir huh?

So spalt tops look amazing, but the softness of the wood is supposed to take away from the sound. Can anyone attest to how much of a noticable difference there is? I have played many before but not with the same wood, pu configs and all that wonderful stuff. Not to mention you learn alot more about an instruments sound owning it as opposed to just playing it.

Wow. I forgot how much I like Spaulted Maple. Too many beauties to mention any particular one. Now I'm thinking Spaulted Maple instead of Claro Walnut top for my eventual Roscoe five. Hmmm...

This kind of problem I like, but I still think I'm leaning to the Walnut.

I like the spalt, but in my opinion there is nothing sexier than a nicely figured walnut top.
