As always Pino just sounds incredible. This clip seriously has me thinking about having my Schack fretless 5 routed for a MM style pup in the sweet spot, lol. How would you get close to this tone with buying a whole new bass? I wanna say flats but I'm not sure. I know he's using an octaver too on some parts but I've got that covered.

  2. good find, that's a sick video

good luck with your tone search

  5. I get the argument but I'm not in 100%. There are some things fingers cannot emulate no matter what. But, this isn't the place for that argument I just wanna get that tone!

I like the tandem shots of the black guys giving each other nods of approval.

Baird6869 RIP Gord Downey. A True Canadian Icon.

And lots of volume. You aren't getting that deep tone with a 15W practice amp in your basement.

A fretless and an octave pedal is a start. That's very "Pino".

    You can't be cereal.

Whether or not it's your style, the musicianship is undeniable.

  15. Whereas I want *this* tone. I know it's a P, but I'd love to know what the settings Murray used were. I contacted him to find out, but he couldn't remember.

I love the sound on the slide at about 1:38 or so.

What I *don't* love is the cheesy third-party video sorry about that, guys...

They always are. That music isn't my style but I can't bring myself to define it as crappy.

Doesn't really appear to be a MM pickup though. More of a soap bar in the MM position.

I think people were jabbering about that bass back when the Who played the super bowl also.

I don't know who the foreground left guy is, but the one in the center background looks like Richard Bona.

    Awesome clip.

I heard him live with the Who. I hate to say it, but I actually wish that Pete and Roger would have shut up and just let Pino and Zak jam for about 45 minutes.
