I want to add a hollow body bass to my collection... Ibanez Artcore or the Jack Casady bass?

  1. I have it narrowed down to these two....or do I? Opinions please?

Get your hands around both of them. Then you'll know. Similar type instruments, but they will feel very different from each other. Go with the one that you're most comfortable with.

The Jack Casady is an excellent bass and is extremely versatile.

To my ear, though, it sounds more like a solid body than a hollowbody (it is semi-hollow).

I definitely recommend it if you want a good, all-around bass. If you're really after the sound of a hollobody, however, you're probably better off with the Ibanez.

I had the Casady and I really liked it. Although it sounded a lot like a P Bass with a woody kind of a tone to it. Neck diving is an issue.

Consider the scale length of each, does that matter to you?
