    It was amazing,
I went there and there was this little stage and about 30 chairs set up in front of it. And i sat in the very front(which was about 3 feet in front of him) and he came on played about 3 songs, which were amazing! He then answered a bunch of questions and played different things in between. He had an aguilar set up, and he had a laptop set up in front of him, and he would play the digital audio files from his laptop on to the ubl speakers and play bass with it, he was amazing. He showcased his signature ibanez model which is amazing. He uses the fretless five string model, it comes with bartolini active system, with the wooden board from the base of the neck to the pickup( he uses this because when he wants to play closer to the neck, he doesnt feel comfortable because their is no base below his fingers, so he put that wooden piece there so you play close to the neck, and not have any trouble. This signature model he plays is also just a factory made one to, so if u see him play he is using the same one you see on the store shevles! He told us stuff i never ever knew, but i cannot tell you the secrets, you will just have to see him yourself. And after the show i went and talked with him, (you will not believe how mellow and normal this guy is) i mean if u were walking down the street you wouldnt even notice him. but he is a incredibly intelligent and talented musician, as well as an extremely nice guy. oh ya, i got him to sign one of his videos for me. You have to check him out, it is a life changing experience.

    I know, I know. ;)

Willis is, just like you said, a normal (cap-wearing) guy (with a great sense of humour). Also a very talented musician, although I don't share his taste in tone.

Why can't we get him to post here? :)

Yeah, I dig his bass. Very light, great neck, with an awesome B string and a great nasal mwah. The only thing I don't like is the light finish; it seems to take damage too easily.

The man came to the UK a few years ago and did a clinic in Exeter in the deep South West of England. Bloody awesome he was too. He was saying a lot about having a light touch on the strings and that the ramp beneath them encouraged this. Only about 80 people there so the atmosphere was intimate and got a good chat with him afterwards.

I really dig Gary's playing and sense of humour.
    Ask Willis rules!

But the three Ibanez Gary Willis signature basses I tested (2 fretless, 1 fretted) were a big disappointment (well, not really - it's Ibanez after all). Too pricey for the quality.
