I won a set of Carl Thompson strings on Ebay, I'm not sure what to do with them

  1. I snagged a set on Ebay.

Should I save them, not use them, or string them up?

They are pretty hard to get.

there probably hard to get on ebay, but if you email carl or the people at the web site you could probably get another set shipped to ya.
  3. Save them for a recording session then?

Put them on a bass! Strings are not collector's items.

By the way, Carl Thompson does not make his own strings. There's only a handful of true string manufacturers: D'addario, Labella, GHS, Fender, DR, and one or two others I can't recall. All these other brands you see out there are actually just made for them by sombody else.
  5. You can always order them from Carl. They're not that hard to find/get.

    Send them to me :D

OK, OK just kidding. Put them on a bass and tell us how they sound and save the pack for collectors item sake.
  8. Wow, I had all but forgotten about this thread! Ha!

I've had the strings on for a little over a month and they're pretty interesting.

They sound like DR Hi-Beams, but springier... if that makes sense. They have a really interesting, middy twang. Nice strings.

String 'em up and play! If you like 'em, buy more.
    Strings have a shelf life!

I've read Jeff Berlin has used his strings exclusively for years and swears by them.

Les uses them on all of his basses, not just his CT's.
