Lookin to step up to a 5er and was wandering what the best kinds of Ibanez basses are
I like the BTB series.
I have a SRX505 quite a cheap bass really but it sounds amazing. It fits everything I play from a cello version of "Can you feel the love tonight" (From the Lion King) to Jaco (HA when I can play a note of his) to the metalica covers I occasionally do this bass is fantastic.
I tried a BTB404Q and rto me it sounded awful I really wanted one as well. But the four string was horible, I don't know what it would be like as a five but I doubt any better.
You also might want to look at peavey.
For an absolute killer B string on a $600 bass, it's hard to beat a BTB405QM http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=BTB405QM
For a very different sounding bass, check out one of these http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=EDA905
I own one, and they are just about the most comfortable bass you can play.
