I had a BTB with this finish once. It is far more beautiful in person, it really looks like fire. GLWTS!!
I did a gazillion gigs with a 5 with the same electronics. That mid frequency control is the secret weapon of this bass. You can plow through and mix if you learn that one aspect of the bass. Super great workhorse bass here that just happens to look good too.
Beautiful instrument. The BTB series is great! I think it is the relatively tightish string spacing and the fewer folks wanting 6ers that cuts down the potential buyer pool some. . If it was more full width string spacing at the bridge these would be much more desirable. But for someone who likes the 17 mm or so spacing it is quite a find for sure! Just my opinion of course. Still a great buy.
Damn! I live up north and would kill for some KK donuts. IMO they are the some of the best donuts, period! If this is still available, could you tell me the nut width and scale please? Also is this a neck thru?
Sorry if this was asked; is there a passive option on this model, or strictly Active? Thank you!!! Interested!!!
In 2008 I bought a 6-string, bolt-on, Indonesian-made Ibanez BTB that a guitarist friend was selling. Prior to sitting down and trying out that bass, I'd been scared to even look at anything with more than four strings. But the neck felt tailor-made for me, and to this day I consider it one of the best basses I have ever owned (side note: that bass would stay in tune forever too...) I was going through some stuff in 2011 (including moving to a different part of the province) and decided to walk away from bass for awhile, and ended up selling that BTB...and in the years since, I have found/bought 4-and-5-string basses that have really comfortable necks (that's where it all starts for me, the neck), and am not much into 6ers anymore. If I were, though, I'd be sorely tempted by this one! (P.S. OP, is yours neck-thru or bolt-on?)
