I do believe the difference is mostly in the woods used.

    :^)~

  4. You got me on that one.

The link you posted was from Denmark, correct?

    Here's the Ibanez homepage: www.ibanez.com

I tried Denmark and Germany, and didn't come up with a 700 model. Perhaps you'll have better luck.

    Good luck.

  5. I just found it; it's available in Japan.

Yes i know but can you tell the difference and why it is not available in Europe, USA .

  7. The only differences I can find, are:

    The body:

    BTB 400
    Basswood body w/quilted maple top

    BTB 700
    Ovankol/ash body

    The neck:

    BTB 700
    maple/bubinga

    BTB 400
    maple/walnut

    I can't tell if they're both 35" scale.

I wouldn't worry too much about these little differences. They probably won't affect the overall tone that much.

As to why the BTB 700 isn't available in the U.S. or Europe?

Ibanez probably makes certain models for export to certain areas of the world, (I don't know why)
and certain models are produced for the local (Japanese) market.

I realise that I'm 6 years late to the party here guys, but are these examples of the BTB range still in circulation? Or even still in existence?? Because I have BTB 5 string and love it to pieces, the 700DX would be a fine addition to the collection!

    Thanks!

Here are the BTBs that Ibanez currently offers in the US:

Electric Basses - BTB Series | Ibanez guitars

Note that they are all 35 inches except the BTB33, which is 33. All the 5-strings use a wide, 19-mm spacing, except the BTB33, which is 17 mm. All current BTBs are neck-through. All the current models are 5- or 6-string. Bolt-on and 4-string models were available in the past.

NAMM is just around the corner, so there may be new models soon.
