The Cerro has made me wish I had a singlecut bass!:bassist: I don't care what anyone says about MK1 Barts, that bass sounds good! To top it off, I love that purpleheart fingerboard.

It does sound good but I wonder why they'd put the MK1's in that bass?! Isn't that intended to be a higher end series bass? Having said that, I put the MK1's that were in my Lakland 55-01 back in because everything else I tried just didn't sound good to me. I did change the preamp though. I wonder if that's the MK1 preamp in that bass?

I don't know about the preamp, but both the five and four string
Cerro list for under $1,100. Add USA Barts and preamp, it would easily be $1,700-$2,00.

I like it alot, but do they make a version for people who don't slap?

It's say custom Ibanez 3 band eq, active passive switch.

  7. I'm starting to notice that almost every bass review video I've watched in the last couple of months is just someone slapping on a bass.

It still looks Ibanez tight to me. Have they gotten up to 19mm at the bridge yet?

I read on another thread that they are 18mm at the bridge like a Fender.

I bought a Ibanez bass here on TB that has an upgraded Bart preamp with the MK1's and it sounds pretty great. Like Dr. Cheese said you can upgrade the preamp and walk away with a killer bass. I was thinking about upgrading to the MK5 Barts but, so far I'm pleased.

I wonder if the guys who incorporate slapping can disinguish the tonal qualities, if a reviewer only slaps and pops for 5 minutes.

  15. To me just about all slap and pop sounds the same if the slapper is competent.

I can certainly tell if someone is slapping on a soapbar bass, big humbucker, or single coil bass.

Yeah, but can differentiate between two Ibby single coil active basses one costing 400$ the other 2k$. For me it gets lost in those videos, but I can't really slap so the finer nuances get lost for me anyway.

Tone is always tricky on videos. I'm not sure I could tell a good passive Fender Jazz from a passive Lull or Lakland played finger style or with a pick.

That's true, although some videos are really well recorded and in (comparably) high quality. Just watched a video of a german guy really testing everything on a 7 string Ibby and it was very informative, but something in the signal chain just killed the tone of the bass and I'm sure it doesn't sound like a distorted tincan.
