A little earlier this year, I visited Ibanez's site (which I used to cruise all the time, but hadn't visited for a few months). Not only was the layout totally different, but my favourite basses to ogle -- the EDC ergodynes were changed! What was this new phenomenon? The pickups, formerly two soapbars in the bridge and neck positions repsectively, were replaced with one triple-coil pickup in the bridge position! Not only that, but the controls have significantly changed as well. It used to be: bass boost/cut,treble boost/cut,mid boost/cut and selector of mid frequency (dark to light). Now, the site only has the following description of the pickup and electronics:

The EDC's powerful passive triple coil humbucking pickup, simple-to-operate 2-band EQ, and three way selector switch (trad, bright, and attack) allows wide and instantaneous changes in tone.

Frankly, the 705 and the 715 seem like two completely different monsters! Does anyone know how the 710/715 sounds? There's tons of reviews of the 700/705, but no one seems to want to review the new ones. Did they change any other features? Besides the change in layout, the site has also become a lot less informative about their features (does anyone remember how when you used to highlight something on the list, it'd have a little window with a full rundown of it? Especially how they used to have all the measurements of the neck available! Now nothing's there! Curses!).
