#1) Has anyone felt the need to move back the Jazz pickup closer to the bridge, as a Fender is? And if so does it change the sound a lot? And how does the Mikro with both pickups full up compare to a standard size PJ both-on? #2) With a P-bass pickup upgrade (to Duncan ect.) how close does the Micro get to an actual P-bass? Cheers, j
not all mikros sound alike. my green one sounds great, fairly p bass like. the black one, before we modded it, sounded okay, but not as good as the green one and with less bass to the sound. my blue one from years ago sounded like the green one, pretty much.
Mikros sound a bit more 'plup-y' to me, due to the much shorter scale. A standard, 34" scale has a lot more zing and snap to the notes, especially on the nut end of the neck.
Thank you for the replies! I'm going to a store tomorrow where they have tons of basses including the Mikro... I'll come back with my impressions (and probably a wanut Mikro). Having played bass a long time I know strings have a lot to do with the tone, so it won't be very scientific. My main interest right now is that, at least a good inch, of room further away from the bridge that the Mikro has. (I really want that "J-bass bridge" sound.) Maybe because of the scale, it sounds more like the Fender tone when it's further away. & that's why they located it there. Any other input, experiences please? Jasyr
