Ibanez RB 950

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by matiya, Oct 19, 2005.

  1. I've recently come across this bass while surfing on the net, yet can't find any info about it. It's said to have been made in 1984 (unfortunatelly, I haven't been playing the bass "that" long). It sure looks nice, but could anybody tell me more about it? How much do you think it's worth?

    Thanks in advance!

According to the serial number, It's a 1988 model. I bought it from a guy on eBay after owning an Ibanez SRX700. I loved the neck on the SRX but couldn't get on with the active electronics. The RB caught my eye and I ended up getting it for less than £200. It plays really nicely and the sounds that can be obtained are very usable. Each humbucking pick-up is fitted with a coil tap allowing it to be used in single coil mode too. You can approximate the sounds of Fender Precision and Jazz as well as fuller sounding instruments such as the Gibson Thunderbird.
I love it and I don't think I shall ever part with it.

Wow, that's the prettiest Ibanez I've seen in a while. I like the shape a lot better than the Soundgear shape.
