Does the Ibanez SR300DX have a painted neck or do they have a natural finish with lacquer(sp)?

    Thanks!

Could soapbars be added to the SR300DX (replace the P and J actives), or would there be holes in the wood body where the pickups dont line up (different sizes)?

It'd be really hard to do, lots of routing would be needed, and even then I believe that the split coil P is a bit thicker than a soap bar so the hole would be too wide in some places. Basically it really wouldn't be a good idea... not that theres anything majorly wrong with a P/J scheme.

the neck is not painted. i can plainly see the three laments of (flame) maple and the texture of the wood.

i dont think soapbars are so important. the p/j provides a good tone range - except with this bass's DX electronics, which are very crappy... im planning on upgrading the electronics and defretting it after i get my Corvette. should be better with better electronics.
