hi there , i am from reunion isalnd,

there arn't many shops here so its almost impossible to find a good bass.
my brothers in london and he said he will bring me back a bass, i was thinking of either geting an sr500 or a fender mim.

i am in a band who play indie rock music, but i like playing jazz and slapping by myself.

which bass do you lot i should go for??

    thanks,

Personally, I would go for the jazz bass. It is awesome for slapping and will retain its value alot better.

I have a 505 and a MIA Jazz. Two completely different sounds. The 505 is a little more girtty/grindy sounding than the Jazz. String spacing on the 500 may cause a problem with slapping. 500 is much lighter than the Jazz. Both are great basses. For the sound you want probably the Jazz.

Another vote for the Jazz. Better for the style of music you play IMO. If you can afford it, have your brother pay for a new set of strings and have the bass set up as well.
