    1) Why does this bass only have four knobs?
All of the ones I have seen before have got five!
    Am I being paranoid?

    2) The pickups don't seem to be the usual shape, more rectangular Bartolinis seem to be standard.

    3) Also, it is for a really good price, maybe 60 % off.

    Am I just completely lucky?

They've been doing variations on this theme for decades, I think you're looking at an earlier one.

I used to play a 1989 SR805 with the pickups set something like this and with four knobs. It was great. These pickups look to be a similar shape - the very squared edges were even sharper than the EMGs of the day, as opposed to the very rounded bartolini feel.

Yes you're being paranoid! Enjoy the bass!

This seems to be a 1993, as I just found an Ibanez archive showing some of the changes through the years.

    Thanks for the help!
