Dude did you ever get one?! I'm skeptical of the neck-through as far as repairs go. BTW Love the circa profile pic.
Been a few more years, I'm sure you're forgiven lol. Did you ever get the SRX700? There's a 4 string natural finish one near me for sale. Never had an Ibanez. The black hardware is all discolored and appears to be an '06. Summary of the thread is: 1. weak preamp. sound is meh. 2. thinner feel on neck. 3. goes out of tune? It's strange that in the past month, there are at least 6 interesting basses I've come across locally. This is one. Usually I find 1 bass every 3 months.
If the price was right on it, I'd definitely consider it. 1) Weak preamp Weak? Not in my opinion, sound is beefy on these SRX basses. Can it be improved, yes if you want. If the price on the bass is reasonable, upgrading the preamp could be an option, stock is okay for the price the bass sold for at the time. 2)thinner feel on the neck? It's an Ibanez, known for thin necks. I had a couple of SRX basses before, if I remember correctly necks seemed a little thicker than the SoundGear basses which I also owned. 3) My SRX basses were not prone to go out of tune, actually pretty stable I don't see why this one would. I'm sure there are lemons that might like any other brands/makes.
