I was just looking for 6 string bass stuff online and came across this: Ibanez and Thundercat Launch the TCB1006 6-String Bass | Premier Guitar Looks pretty stylee! It's just the nearly $7,000 pricetag. C/S, Rev J
Good luck actually seeing one unless you order it. The same is true about all of the Ibáñez Custom Shop models.
Kind of like the Fender Steve Bailey that I already play ;-) I'm pretty sure that mine is the last one made. C/S, Rev J
Well here's the google shopping page on it: Ibanez Tcb1006 Stephen Thundercat Bruner Signature Electric Bass C/S, Rev J
I played one at NAMM last year, it was the heaviest bass I've ever picked up, and I've held a double-neck Alembic.
I'm not surprised the Ibanez is heavier than one might expect; big archtop hollowbody basses almost always have thick bent laminated tops rather than solid wood carved tops, and these are always heftier than their hollowness might suggest. But heavier than an Alembic doubleneck, seriously?!?!
There was one listed on Thomann at 13.7 pounds, maybe I exaggerated comparing it to the Alembic doubleneck, but when I picked it up I almost dropped it because it was much heavier than I expected from a hollowbody, it felt like the heaviest bass I had ever picked up. Don't get me wrong, it's a super cool bass, and I would love to have one.
thats a lot of money for a bass that looks like it might sound like this: "Boo booo boo boo boooo boo boo" ...j/k
I admit I haven't played one, but it sure looks heavy, and cumbersome. Either Thundercat himself is a dwarf, or that bass is HUGE.
