curious to see if anyone has played one and compare to the more entry level models?
There is almost nothing online about the prestige model.
I picked one up for a great deal, I’ve owned a TMB300 and played a TMB100 but am wondering why no love for the prestige line?

I played one about a month ago when my wife gifted me a bass for our anniversary. It's a great sounding bass! I'm a huge Ibanez fan but, I think what confuses most consumers is the fact they have way too many models roll over in the same design line. Also, Guitar Center is the biggest national supplier, and they don't stock any of the ultra high-end or artist models. They barely stock any of the quirky models in the line.

Ibanez has been trying to crack the Fender/Gibson/MusicMan market with models like the Talman, ATK, and RKB with lukewarm success. Those who have given them a chance love them but, they blend in with "lower" models of the same design. I've owned two ATK's and a Prestige RKB900, and they were nothing short of spectacular.

I seriously think that Ibanez needs to split like Fender(Squier), Gibson(Epiphone), ESP(LTD), and distinguish their budget line from the top shelf models.

    Man well put.
I think Ibanez gives you the best bang for your buck, and in my OPINION, they are some of the best instruments out there. I had a prestige ATK and stupidly sold it because I wasn’t using it! Grr!

One of the things I like about Ibanez is that they aren’t split up, the name carries throughout. That being said, I believe you are right, splitting up would be a great business idea.

I’m excited to check out this TMB, buying it sight unseen but like I said I’ve played the lower models and was very happy

but then we are made confused with artist signature models with Squier, Epiphone or LTD logo on the headstocks, without any options under their upper-class brands... suggesting these artists are second class artists?

Bass came in today, will do a review soon, but I initial play through is I’m shocked that more of these haven’t sold. There is for sure a difference between these and the tmb100 and 300 which are both fantastic instrument

    Beautiful bass!

    Please describe the difference.

  8. Congrats!:hyper:

I don't have Ibanez Prestige, only their Premium SR1600, and I become a big fan of Ibanez. I don't know how other models are, but I think mine is a fantastic instrument. After I bought the Ibanez my MIA Fenders are seldom played. I really prefer the SR to the J bass and PJ bass.

I’m waiting a few more days to hopefully do a video review, and to get more time on this.

Sturdy. I know that’s vague, but comparing this to my Players series Fenders which also have satin necks, the neck is rounder and the satin is much better. I thought the fender was pretty good but in comparison the Ibanez comes out on top.

The finish is also unique, it’s a low gloss but has a slight transparency to it allowing you to see slight grain underneath. At first I was unsure of it but it actually blends really well and I like it now

There is so much this instrument has to offer so far, it’s been one of those “play it and it’s there”.

If you have specific question please ask, like I said I’ll try to have a review up within a week, these run 1500 new but you can get them 7-850 new or mint if you like, I went sight unseen and don’t regret it.

I have no doubt that this is a great bass. High end Ibanezes are good as anyone else’s top of the line instruments.

Yea it’s surprising the little love Ibanez seems to get, even their entry models command some respect, not saying anyone else’s doesn’t, but I feel Ibanez gives you a really Big Bang for the buck! I’ll be doing a play through soon!

You didn’t play the TMB600 with the Nordstrands? It’s pretty much the same bass but ash instead of alder and it’s $1k cheaper. I got one used for only $399. That could be a reason there isn’t much love for the $1600 TMB2000. I already got rid of it though It was too heavy and the neck is ridiculous, and I like chunky necks too haha. Also didn’t like that you had to unscrew two screws to get to the battery. It’s a shame though because I really liked the tone but it was just too uncomfortable for me to play.

I did play it, the only one that they had was the washed out white one which I thought looked ugly personally, the natural one looks really good.

The prestige has the battery compartment that clicks in so no screws needed.

And you’re right about the price, but it’s the same difference as a MIM and MIA Fender, the difference is marginal but it IS there!

The 600 is a great instrument but I feel the neck on the 2000 is much more comfortable and the electronics sound a bit more clear, the finish and hardware are also much better
