Hey everyone, I've been playing bass in my church for about a year now and I've decided to make the transition from a 200$ squier to a real bass guitar. Anybody care to shoot out any ideas for good sounding and looking basses? I dont care if it is 4 or 5 strings, if it's 4 ill just convert it to B-E-A-D Thanks,
Do you have a Sam Ash, Guitar Center or any local guitar shops near you? You should play as many basses as you can till you find what feels right. Personally, I'd buy a used Carvin.
Buy used, there are alot of great basses on the $800-$900 price range: Fender, Lakland, Stingray, Carvin, Ibanez. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/mm-stingray-4-white-matching-headstock-trade-feeler-996199/ http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fs-2010-lakland-skyline-44-60-custom-vintage-j-near-mint-996320/ http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fs-2010-fender-american-standard-jazz-bass-3tsb-ohsc-995924/
A new/used Lakland. A Carvin SB. A used Musicman if you can find one. Depends on what sound you are looking for.
Do you like your Squier but ust want something nicer? If that's the case, look for a Fender version of what you have. Watch online sales (15% off seems to be standard) or contact [email protected] for a price quote. If you are looking for something different, check out Ibanez. Thier 1405E and 1205E models are very cool and in your price range with a coupon. You should be able to find an extremely nice new bass for under $1,000. Good luck on your quest!
