Hey guys, I picked up a cheap bass today and was wondering if someone could help me identify it.

It's a sunburst Hohner J bass copy, but that's all I can deduce on my own - it has the word "Hohner" on the headstock but that's the only marking I can find on the guitar at all!

It's in pretty good condition, but needs a new nut and a set of strings. I paid $50 for it which I think was well worth it (remember, I'm in Saudi so there's not too many 2nd hand basses around) but I was just curious as to it's age/history/worth etc...

    Any clues...........?

Hohner makes a decent bass.. I've had three of their basses through the years.. All have been above average...

Google the name and you should be able to find their website..

Yeah, I looked on their website but there's nothing like this on there...

It doesn't sound the best at the moment as the action is horrendous and the strings are some sort of nylon jobs - very similar in fact, to the Rockabilly Slapmasters I use on my upright.
