I have a hartke 3500 280 wats at 8Ohms and 350 at 4 ohms.. I want to get 2X10's to go along with my 1X15. The Ampeg is a 4 ohm cab.... should I get another 4 ohm cab? and will this give me the 280 watts? im not sure how this would work, basically im asking with my hartkee amp, whast the best thing I should do if I want to add another cab (2X10) with the 1X15 that I allready have?
Your amp seems to be rated at a 4-ohm minimum, so your combined speaker load should never be lower than 4-ohms or you'll risk damaging your amp. http://www.samsontech.com/products/relatedDocs/ACF18FA.pdf So...you cant use any additional cab together with your 4-ohm 1x15 with this particular amp. Adding an 8-ohm cab would be a combined speaker load of 2.67. Adding a 4-ohm = 2-ohm. With your amp, an 8-ohm 1x15 would allow you to add most any other additional 8-ohm cab you want. This thread explains it all allot better than me: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144244
Well if you have the svt-15e it is supposed to be a 8ohm cab. As the other poster stated, 2 x 8 ohm cabs = 4 ohm, 2 x 4 ohm cabs = 2 ohm. if your head only goes down to 4 ohm you won't be able to add another cab unless you buy two new 8 ohm cabs. If I am right and your 15 is 8 ohm then you can add watherver 8 ohm cab you want.
