I currently own two EB Sterlings, and one P Bass w/ PJ configuration. I'm looking to expand my tonal pallet and add a 5 string. I seem to have whittled it down to two choices; an older Yamaha TRB5 or a used Warwick BO Thumb 5. Please let me know what would be a better choice to expand my range of tone and color. Also, let me know why. I look forward to your input.
They are both great for 5-string basses. I would go for the Warwick. Slightly better tone from that body. In my opinion.
look at it from another point of view!!!!! if the tone comes from your fingers then what bass sounds better to you?
I'm gonna go against the grain and say go with the Yamaha, those are classy instruments, IMO. I think what you need to do is ask yourself how much you like the Warwick Thumb sound, and if that particular tone is the kind of tonal pallet expansion you're looking for. It's certainly it's own thing. I would think the Yamaha would be versitile tone-wise.
I'm with Phantopeth! and honestly.... your askin me/us what kind of tones you'd like more over the other? these questions really irk me! sorry bassgod76, i dont mean to be a "hater of questions only you can answer".... but i guess i am
Okay, let me make it more of an easy question to answer. If you had to select between the two, what would it be and why?
