Rickenbacker RM1999 that Waters used in the early PF days.
Or any RM1999, for that fact...
For me, it's a toss up between:
-Claypool's CT 6-string fretless "Rainbow Bass"
-Victor's "#1" Fodera
Why? I am an unabashed product of the early '90s bass culture.
That explains the first two.
The third should be obvious - Paul is great, the Beatles are my favorite band, and it's possibly the most valuable instrument on Earth.
I have a friend that worked on it a while back. They bought the bass its own seat on the Concorde to bring it over!
Armed security watched him the entire time he worked. No joke. I've also been in a room with 3 Strads at once, and
all three together were insured for less than the Hofner.
(EDIT: Honorable mention to Mingus's upright, which might actually take the place of the VW Fodera on my list.)
Jaco's Bass of Doom, of course!
Jamerson's Funk Machine, so I could return it to his family.
I don't think I'd even have the nerve to play a note in it.
Geddy Lee's red Wal. Frankly, I'd be happy just to buy one like it, but I cannot find one for love or money.
Joe Osborne's prototype stacked knob Fender Jazz
Jack's Warwick Thumb bass
Oh yes! Since Berry is my favorite bassist, that's a no-brainier for me!
Another vote for the Funk Machine. Easy choice for me! Wasn't the only choice, but easily #1.
This is available at a local music store in Brighton, MI. Fender Jazz Bass Sunburst, Original 1962--not a reissue

Beat me to it with the Fodera. I have 2 AJ basses from them, and I'd love to have one of the new very-chambered ones.
Dragonetti's 1590 Gasparo da Salo bass:
I would have to say Stanley Clarke's 1973 Signature Bass....
I was wondering if anyone heard of Leo, my fav baddest!
For me it has to be Chris Squire's Ric. That's the one that made me a bassist.
Failing that, one of Mel Schacher's with the mudbuckers
John Gallagher's (RAVEN) 8-string or 12-string...
I would likely opt for one of Chris Sqire's Rickenbackers or Jaco's Fender .
Tough question...there are soooo many iconic bassists & basses that would make great picks !
Saw John play it too. 68. WOW
I think we all know which one I'd want. 05 Reunion Warwick. But, I'm in love with the Fender VI.
