what would it be? 5 string

I am really looking at laklands right now. I would have never thought I would have been looking at an active guitar, but after reading up, and talking to a sales rep, it really seems like the move. I have a week until my session with a dealer in my town who is the only one who carries laklands unfortunately. he only has 1 us and 1 classic and the rest are skylines. very excited. would you put anything else on my horizon at this price point? I currently play a 50th anniversary p bass through ampeg svt 50th anni and a bergantino nxt 2x12.

Strandberg. Went through the same question several months ago. Still super happy with my choice.

Pick any Nash, and pocket the roughly 2K.

A used Ken Smith. If you've got that kind of budget, why settle for less than the best? ;)

I'd get an NS Stick and pocket the balance.

Really depends on what you are going for, because at that price, you can get practically anything you want from any major builder (sans bells and whistles). Are you looking for something similar to the P or something different? What is the gap that this new bass is attempting to fill?

Personally I would do all custom, custom body for one of those hipshot trems, 5 string, 24 frets, stuff like that.

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
In that price range I'd be giving Dingwall a hard look.

Dingwall I think. Probably one with and one without Darkglass guts. Because Leland Sklar! :). I have seen really pretty coffee table type basses from many manufacturers but since you have a pbass covered, I went the other way (at least to my ear- especially if you went darkglass.)

There are others that are pretty wood, etc but the Wall options are on my list.

Def wouldn’t turn down the other suggestions here though. Have seen some awesome Roscoe and KS stuff for sure- Devon too. (I think that’s the spelling…)

    I have to spend 4k?
    Anyone of these would do:
    Degier Soulmate 5
Celinder 5 P if I could find one.
    Ken Smith CR5
    LeFay Pulse 5
Anything Drozd in 5 or 6

With 4k, you're in new Roscoe and Dingwall territory, or used you can pocket a wad of cash.

I see no reason to look any further than those.

I Just Say No to basses that require batteries. I have a morbid fear of batteries dying in the middle of a set.
