  1. look here

I'd really like to know how my PRS bass was reviewed. If you have the issue (the link is posted above) could you please give me a brief review? Maybe just how it was rated and a couple of quotes.

Unless you're really bored and you want to type out the entire article. :D

  3.

    I don't understand what you're saying.
  4. Someone may scan the article for you, pix's and all.
If you ask nice. No one is bored enough to write the whole thing out.

The PRS bass was also reviewed in the UK magazine "Guitarist".

My impression from reading this was : good bass, but vastly over-priced.
  6. I'll scan it and e-mail you it.. I don't feel like trying to make it 100kb.. hehe PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you it.

errp.. what month/year is that issue.. I don't think i have it.
  7. June 2000 issue...

And I managed to bring the bass $150 lower then what they were selling for, which was $400 lower then retail. I also got some free strings out of it.

i remember that their little generalization of the review that they printed under their score goes something like this: a good bass that could be great with better electronics.

or something like that. they really didn't like the electronics on the bass. hopefully prs improved their electronics after the review.

(you know something is definitely wrong when bp doesn't like something!!)
  9. sorry, I don't have that issue.

It's actually July 2000 issue - I have it infront of me now!

5 for construction "refined solid crafstmanship!"

2.5 for electronics - uneven pot tapers, no shileding in the control cavity which meant a "fair amount of hum when both pickups weren't on full"

4 for playability - " heel block impedes top-register shredding", "the somewhat weighty body feels bottom-heavy when you're seated, but balances well witha strap."

4 for sound "solid, well-rounded tones with lively midrange presence." "The PRS does not offer tons of tonal tweaking but we got useful variations.

3.5 for value - "a high class axe just a tweak away from greatness"

But then the one they tested listed at $3,200!!!!

"Solid seems to be the most frequent word in the review and their summary says "trad-not-rad"... but I'd want more for that price.
  11. $3,200?!?!?!?!?! I paid $1,450 for mine!!!!!!
