Ok you got offer to manage an all Female super group! You had all the pieces but all was left was a bassist. And you had a choice from these five bassist only..i know there's others but will stick to these 5 for now...which and why? 1..Esperanza Spalding
Id do the drag thing! 1stly, Why would I put together an all female group? I wouldnt waste my time putting together a group if I wasnt going to be playing in it. 2ly, If I'm putting together a group you best know Im playing da bass!
i always wonder why fellas always do the "i'll put on a dress and i can play in a chicks band" schtick and think it's hilarious. not arguing or flashing the PC badge, i'm just curious, since i play in an all-female band and tend to hear this a lot. thoughts? as far as the OP, i imagine it would depend on the type of music....
My all-female band is, OMG, back together. Since I'm dressing myself as a chick and playing bass, its a really good thing that I am a chick. ;-) The Vista Chix ride again... Cherie
Having spent time around my wifes former all-female group I'd say... no way in hell I'd start an all-female group. The cattiness is inevitable.
I already feel like I am herding cats. Makes my head hurt. Only two of us have been playing out in bands, in the past five years since we were together. The rest...not. We're working hard just to get everyone's chops to a level that won't make us crazy. We have rehearsal tonight. I have to be the musicianship nazi this go-round, and its not a role I enjoy. Its tiring. Reminds me...I need to practice! LOL! You can't ask people to not take shortcuts, to not take the lazy way, if you haven't practiced up. Its just...dang, I'm working on a lot of new material for new bands right now. Exhausted. Cherie
Ah, but what about an all "females of TalkBass" group? Clearly the next step, I see. And I'd SO be in for that, if I thought I could keep up.
Meh...not for me. But if some of you ladies would dig it, start one. Personally, I can't think of anything that I would talk about that I wouldn't talk about to the guys, anyway. My old guitarist's wife laughs at me and says I'm "such a dude". LOL! Cherie
To answer the OP's question, to me it's a tough pick between Esperanza Spalding and Tal Wilkenfeld, because they can both groove like mad, they have chops for years, and to me they are also the most beautiful Not to offend any ladies out there, I'm not trying to just be superficial, objectify women, or any of that crap... I just think it's okay to appreciate female beauty for what it is. And, like someone else said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
I don't think anyone's saying that women are being objectified by the thread. One woman questioned why men think the "dress in drag" option is funny. I tried to answer her with humor. As for Pinkie...she's hot. But I'm a better player, so she can hang out at my all-girl band's rehearsal and watch. Normally I don't allow hang-arounds, but she's cool... LOL! Cherie P.S. -- Tal's hotter.
