So this pic from the New York Philharmonic keeps showing up in my Facebook feed:

And I'm not complaining! I mean, A) she's kinda hot; and B) if you click the link you can hear an excerpt of her performance, and she's clearly a virtuoso.

But --oddly, since I am a self-professed horndog -- I find myself somewhat uncomfortable with her attire. If I'm going to go hear the New York Phil play some Mozart with a guest soloist, the last thing I want to worry about is "Will anyone in the audience notice my lap?"

If I'm at Studio 54 on the other hand, I expect folks to dress like that! Am I being arbitrarily prudish? I've been so tempted to write on their Facebook page "I have no doubt Yuja Wang can play the poopie out of Mozart, but why does she have to dress like a streetwalker?" But then I realize I'm being a hypocrite; if she were playing some EDM or techno-pop I'd probably want her to dress that way, and I'd be disappointed if she didn't!

Am I just a Richard? (Perhaps quite literally?)

I think you're getting worried over nothing. With her legs, no one's going to be looking at your boner, unless...

She's shifting the paradigm by incorporating what the good Lord gave her to her advantage.

I love this song, but I always feel like a perv when I watch this video. Maybe it's the school girl thing.

I bet if you get closer her face looks like an old sponge; which is to say, it's no wonder the other end of the species doesn't frequent this place more. More of the "hummina, hummina, yip, yip", right?

You never see concert pianists set up the other way around (with their left sides facing the audience). I wonder why that is.

EDIT: Never mind...it's because the piano lids are hinged on the bass side.
  11. If that photo excites you so much, I suggest some immersion therapy involving lots and lots of porn. It seems to have worked for me, because nothing excites me anymore. It's a huge relief. Manopause for all!

Trying to get people to attend so they don't get bored listening. Has society been so over stimulated to the extent that one cannot sit still through an evening of classical music?

I suppose the producers could do a Jefferson Airplane type background to keep people focused.

Most of us spend our life trying to be acknowledged and appreciated for things we can do and not only that one thing. It makes me kind of sad when I see bass covers that look like push-up bras commercials .

It would be awkward to watch Paul Chambers grabbing his crotch a-la Michael Jackson or John Deacon wearing Freddie's spandex (Sorry Paul I felt awful just typing that).
Using sex to "sell" things, being a car or a solo performance is one of the oldest trick in the book but makes it harder for most women to play the game fair and square.

It perpetuates the idea that we have value for one thing only.

We are not any less sexual than males, but I am pretty sure that while she is smoking those keys the last thing she is thinking about is random boners in the audience. It is not unlikely that she is also cursing that dress that looks mighty uncomfortable.

I don't know, I'd like for her to kick ass with her chops alone.

Nevertheless, against popular belief, not all women think alike so..this is just one's point of view.

In a decade when Gloria Steinem weighs in to say that Miley Cyrus can wear or not wear whatever the hell she wants and that "feminism" does not mean that we say she's objectifying herself, which is what I always thought it was supposed to mean in these situations, I have no idea what people want us to say anymore. I suppose she's trying to make classical music a little less stuffy and prim, so good for her. I have no problem with a little sex appeal, but watching her play Mozart from the nosebleed seats I would be able to afford is not going to rate very high on the list of dangerous temptations for me, no matter what she's wearing. They say sex sells, and I guess it does, but these days there's so much sex getting sold that a pianist in a miniskirt hardly even warrants a mention. We're oversaturated.

Without her miniskirt this thread wouldn't have been started. I neither know how many views this thread has received nor how many viewers heard of of her the first time due to this thread, but it's bound to be hundreds or thousands, and that's a lot of free publicity.

Really? Again guys? How difficult is it not to start threads that objectify women, men, people, girls in schoolgirl outfits, and just about anything that someone may look at and think they wanna "hit that". Whether or not sex sells, this forum is viewed by a lot of people that really don't care about your fantasies. Just because we have thoughts doesn't mean they need to be discussed in a public forum. It's one thing to have a discussion as to whether or not her outfit is appropriate or if there is too much sex in pop culture blah blah but to go on a public forum and announce that you are worried that someone might see your boner? Wow.
