I'm impressed by my PF50T.

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Marty Forrer, Oct 11, 2018.

  1. i played a rock bar gig last night and left my two 1x12 cabs at home as there was an 8x10 provided, also FOH support. I took my 650 watt D class head along in case the PF50T didn't cut it, after all it's only 50 watts. Dang! With the gain on 12 o'clock I had the master on 10 o'clock and it pumped! Plenty of headroom, and the sound guy loved the transformer DI. Happy man here.

Yes, you should be happy, it's a great little amp, everyone should have one kicking around.

A fifty watt tube amp into an 810 can get very loud.

    Very cool!

The other day I was noodling around with all my gear. I decided to try my Ashdown LB30 (30W all tube head with transformer DI as well) through my Ampeg 610 AV.

DANG! Sounded great and was STUPID loud.

I agree! If you're used to playing a 'small' tube amp through one speaker, you'll be amazed what happens when you add more cones.

Man, this gives me some hope for gigging my PF-20T! I've got a fridge-sized oldschool 2x15s (ported as well) so idk if it will be 8x10s loud, but I may be able to bring some thunder. Congrats on rockin it with that Ampeg! The tone is killer!

I want to try this with my double 410HE setup. Dying to know if this is viable in a fairly loud band.

With these sort of combinations, you really have to try it and see. It depends in the efficiency of the cabinets. Some do better than ohers.

  15. I bought it recently, so it's possibly a 2018 model.

That's the Thing with tube amps. You can push it slightly beyond the 50w and get compression and harmonic distortion. That compression cuts some lows that you probably do not need in the mix..

That's the power of total speaker sensitivity vs. wattage. God bless 8x10s.

I've been looking for a < 100 watt all tube amp with the transformer DI option. I am aware of the PF50T - really wish I could try one in person, but haven't had much luck finding a local store with them in stock

Where the heck is Stumbo? It would've been much better with a high pass filter. ;)
