... because a GC is opening locally. Actually, it's on the way home from work.

    Pray for me.
  2. Try to ignore the grand opening free American Fender blow out sales.

    (note, I am being sarcastic)
  3. Heheh, yeah right.

Your bank account is going to take a severe beating, I assure you. Quick, make a bunch of commitments so you won't have time to go to GC.

think of all the Mom and Pop dreams of independance squished into the souls of the shoes of the Board of Directors of the "WalMart/Home Depot" of the music gear industry.

I may not buy local, but I'm loyal like a pitbull to the "little guys" online that actually know the products and get my business.

but feel free to stop by and fondle the Bongos :bassist:

You can (grand opening sale!) do it. You're a (amazing deals!) strong man!

I wish there was a Guitar Centre near me. I don't think they have 'em in Canada. :meh:

I live 2 blocks from one here in LA.

You won't have too much of a problem......

Trust me, the screeching sounds of out of tune Nirvana and Metallica riffs will have you trying to cut your own ears off within minutes.

Guitar Center sounds like there is a cat-skinning convention going on in there most of the time.........
  8. I just got a job at my local GC....
I think my first couple of pay checks are already spent :help:

Luckily the nearest GC to me has a very poor bass selection.

Are you talking about the one here in Toledo? Horrible bass selection. I walk in every so often, only to leave after a three minutes.

I've found GCs to vary wildly in their bass selections...this is especially true with the used basses of course.

If it's a new GC, there won't be anything good. And if there is, it will be under glass and not for sale. :spit:

For me-the nearest guitar center is about an hour away. I do most of my shopping online though and i spend faaaar to much time on the computer. Note-i'm in debt $320 or so to my dad so i can get a cab [Avatar B212] sooner rather than later.

Best advice i can give? Use your will power, you can over come. Now if they have some sales...... ;)
  14. The GC around here opened around 6 months ago. I've been in there, maybe 3 times, haven't bought anything.

Of course it's because I'm broke.

Even then, not much there has tripped my trigger.
  15. HeavyDuty:

Where is it opening? (which suburb?)
  16. You're kidding, right? At the GC I worked at we would sell ANYTHING in the store, including display cases and furniture!! Serious. Once we sold the GM's chair cause the customer liked it and wanted it (he was buying a Gretsch White Falcon)

If you really want something from GC, find an Assistant, Sales or General Manager and start haggling. They usually won't bend for small stuff, but if you are after something over $1000 they will willingly bend over and let you have your way with them.:D

Now THERE'S a nice mental image for all you ex-GC inmates. Your boss, bent over, with Brad or JT or Nino hard at work at him......

    Oh, my eyes!!! My eyes!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Rock on

Naperville, on IL 59. It'll save me from driving to Lombard.
  20. Oh great. (Lives in Bolingbrook, works in Warrenville.) :D

Looks like the folks at Hix Brothers aren't going to be happy.
