After nearly trading her away earlier this week (and thankfully coming to my senses), I decided to pull my '94 StingRay5 out of the closet where she has lived for many years, overlooked for a myriad of other (more expensive) basses. Feeling sorry for her and her pretty trans burgundy finish, I did a setup and changed strings and battery, then plugged her in.

I just came up for air after playing her for almost two hours (and my shoulder hurts - almost 10 lbs.). How could I have ever thought about giving up that kind of tone!!!!!

OK, OK. I'm sorry. Moderators take me away. ;)

Excellent question! Even worse than me who left his OLP 'Ray 5 copy sitting in it's gig bag for years until one day I gave it the re-wiring, setup and all the usual treatment. What in the world was the matter with me? Some people look their whole lives for tone like that and there it was just sitting in my closet! Shame on me!

I never learned how to post pics other than an attachment like the lame effort above. Can anybody school me?

As to why she stayed in the closet........ Don't know what I was thinking.

  9. Sheer beauty, grade A bass porn!

  10. My '77 'ray hasn't been out for a month. Still in its roadcase after my last tour.

    Don't ask me why....

There's your answer. I went from 10 to 8 pounds. It's great. People will argue putting up with it for the tone, but since most people can't tell if I'm playing a $300 bass or a $3,000 bass, weight has become almost as important as tone.

I have a Fender P in my closet and it never gets played. It is the best playing P that I've ever owned, but as I only play Fender J's now it stays in the closet. If one day I decide that P's are the way to go I will have a lovey bass, in my closet.

You bass was in the closet? Do you mean like R. Kelly? Or Tom Cruise on South Park?

If you want to post pics, you host the image somewhere online. You can get a free Photobucket account at Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket. Then, once you have it uploaded, you take the URL for the unique image and sandwich it between [IMG].

so it goes [IMG] and Photobucket will actually give you the text you need so you can just copy and paste. It's super simple. :) Just sign up for a Photobucket account.
