In light of all the raging hormones around here lately with prom and 13 year olds and all.. I figured Id post this.

So Im randomly browsing the non-bass classified ads, and I come across Oteil Burbridge tickets... and its right here in the city!(Im used to traveling stupid distances for concerts, and since I dont have my license yet, public transports the way to go...)

So I get two tickets just for the heck of it, and I'm thinking about who to take. My friends? Who the heck knows who he is? My dad? ...works with his cousin, but Im 18 and kind of over going to concerts with my dad. He did take me to a lot of concerts (even a wooten/burbridge/bailey show), so maybe I owe him one.

But then it hits me. Im 18. I need someone sans-penis to come to this show with me, and there was a girl.. bla bla.. you know the situation. So I ask her and low and behold, yes!

So we're talking and she has a curfew. basically she has to leave whereever she is at 10:30. Sounds fine to me.. I wouldnt mind leaving a little early for a night out with her.
But no.. Oteil and his band come on at 11:00. Theres a fellow TBer playing an earlier set, so I guess we'll catch that and Ill be a gentleman and take her home. Sigh. Im missing Oteil Burbridge for a girl.

taking my dad is out of the question. I already told the girl we're going.

maybe I can take her back home and get back before Oteil's set gets too under way... How long do these sets usually last? Ive only been to a jazz club twice (iridium and the 55 bar).

Take the girl to dinner, leave concert by 10 - plenty of time to get her back home, pick up your dad, and treat the old boy to a concert.

Why not talk to her parents and explain the situation. See if you can maybe get an extension on the curfew?

Otherwise, you could... call her a cab?

No, that would make too much sense.

What you have to do is buy another ticket and bring both your dad and the girl without one knowing the other is also there. Keep them on opposite sides of the room and excuse yourself to the restroom several times during the course of the night. Then, dress up like an old woman with an Irish accent and pitch a hip new children's show to a producer while simultaneously going to dinner with your estranged wife, her new boyfriend, and your kids, who you have been looking after also while disguised as the old Irish nanny, yet they have no idea that you are really their father. That is, until the boyfriend chokes on a shrimp that you poisoned with paprika because you know he's allergic to it. You attempt to perform the Heimlich on him and he knocks off your prosthetic mask, revealing your true identity.

    I been everywhere, man...
    None. At all.
There's an old Brady Bunch premise that predates "Mrs. Doubtfire" by decades, but this is still the best version:D
  13. Hmm I ditched a show (The Bled) about a month ago for a girl. And then we started going out. 3 weeks later we broke up. Am I regretting that now? Sure am.

I was thinking more blowing, less of the dad.

I'd say talk to her parents, it's a jazz concert so no one should be breaking bottles on there head or stabbing people(unless Mingus comes back from the grave).
If not go for the concert.
  15. If you're missing Oteil, you'd better be gettin' some tail...
  16. +1!

Could you maybe find someone to take her home early so you can stay?

Take her on an early date somewhere else and then bring her home at 10:30. Then go to the concert with your dad or friend.

I think the reason everyone wants to you to go with your dad is because they're probably dads too, or at least older and more capable of appreciating their fathers. I haven't actually checked any profiles, I'm just assuming for some reason.

Oh, and that was amazing. Before I realized what it was, I thought you might be t(T?)he Qintar or something.

If she has a curfew, you will be not getting any tail no matter who you miss.

Take a cab to get her home in a gentleman's way, and ask your dad to pick you up at her place and head back to the gig. Tell her you went straight to bed after you escorted her home. Sounds like a plan.
  19. talk to the damn parents man, unless theyre militant Bible thumpers from Iowa they may understand that your not going to be impregnating their daughter, but instead listening to some smoothe jazz (that at some point in time may be playing while you impregnate their daughter)

this seemed to work well for me, but i always had a way with parents, hell, come to think of it, persuasion in general.

Well.. I THOUGHT i got a job, but the guy who hired me got fired pretty quickly.. so no job...
and with said job i was going to take her home in a cab, but now it looks like that'll be about 40 bucks, and the train would be just as fast. im going to see if i can guilt her into staying out longer.

P.S. im pretty sure her parents dont speak english... and who talks to someone's parents? If she wants to ditch her curfew, she will.
