I'm on my way to see Queensryche, Fates Warning and Dream Theater. It's 5:45 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. When I get back I give my review. Later.
I went to the Detroit show, and all 3 bands were amazing. Fates Warning sounded great, even though I am not too farmiliar with a lot of their stuff. The sound was great for all three bands, and the sets were great .
Ok, all three bands were great. Fates Warning did a pretty good set. I'm familiar with some of thier older stuff and a little of thier new stuff. The bass player was great. Don't know his name but he had a great tone, it really cut thru. They did the song "Monument" which is a great. Dream Theater was awesome. They did a few songs and then went into this extensive instrumental piece that was just incredible. They finished their set with "Pull Me Under". John Myung just blew me away. Then Queensryche came on. Played most of the favorites and some stuff off the new album, which was pretty good. Did quite a few songs off of Mindcrime, which is cool. Some stuff off of Rage for Order, also did "The Lady Wore Black. Then Came the part I wasn't expecting. For the second encore, both Queensryche and Dream Theater came out and did three songs together, Comfortably Numb by pink Floyd, one song I don't have a clue as to what it was and Take Hold of the Flame. This was awesome, three guitarists, both drummers, both bassist, a keyboard player and both Geoff and James trading lyrics. Comfortably Numb was just incredible, the outro solo by John Petrucci was incredible. All in all it was a great show. The only complaint I have is the venue that the show was at, The Cove at Cal Expo, to me it's not really set up for a show like this.
