I've played very few acoustic basses and knew relatively little about them. I'm a pretty experienced player and need the instrument for mainly jam sessions and playing without an amp. I know most of the guys on here know a great deal about this stuff so i was hoping I could get some advice. I came up with some categories for what i want in an acoustic bass so please let me know your opinion on each.

    Loudest unplugged:

    Best Sounding plugged in:

    Best feel and playability:

    Best value:

    Best looks:

Martin, Tacoma, Guild, or Victor Bailey for all around quality:

I'd appreciate an input on this.

    Thank you,

Well, there's been several threads on this subject lately.
    Do a search on ABG.

Seems like the Tacoma may have the best unpluged volume, but it's not cheap. Most will do just for playing without an amp. And from reading other posts, none will be heard through two or more instruments.

Best sounding, feel, playability and looks are all subjective. As I guess is value, along with cost/build quality.

    Again.. do a search.
