  1. Yea, so I've started my hunt for another bass, but this time with a budget of $1000......I have a G&L L2500,so I need a bass that has a more distinct, unique sound......so far..it's too confusing...so maybe you guys can help

  2. well I'd suggest lookin for a used Peduall rapture, they come with P/J. JJ or soapbar pickups (bartolini's). I have seen them for around 700.

  3. i have used ibanez basses for a while and they are priced with the customer in mind.
i have a ibanez ergodyne 5 string cost about 650 to 750. good luck

    I'd buy <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=920374398"><b>THIS</b></a> or <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=917441264"><b>THIS</b></a> if I were you. ;)

try something different; a handmade bass from an indie luthier.

There are some FBB prototypes on clearance here:

A different G&L is going to be the best value. RICs are very distinctive. Music Man, and of course, Fender, should be considered too. Plenty of more recent vintage, as well as used boutique/Custom Shop stuff around the US$1K mark too.

  8. used stingray or american P. very distinctive.

  9. Good basses under $1,000 include:

Reverend Rumblefish XL (or 5L or Brad Houser if you prefer a 5-string)
Peavey Millennium Plus (I saw one new recently for under $900, but it may not be distinct enough for you)
    Perhaps a Lakland Skyline

Used isn't a bad option either.

No question - go for a used (eBay) Cort "Elrick" 4 or 5 string. Best unknown deal out there. Also knwn as RB4 (or RB5) or Josh Paul signature model. They only made them for a year or two and they are underpriced by far.
