My first five-string bass was knocked over by my cat, my beloved Ibanez SR-405's pickups, bridge and neck are messed up I have to get it repaired and have a few things replaced on it so what are good pickups and preamp for an Ibanez SR-405.
Hey Bigfeet, Definitely bummed about your accident. I would freak if I had a bass go down. I hope you really love that cat. "Right to the moon, Alice" If the cat stays, hang your basses or case them. If the cat likes to rub on things, this could happen again. Doc
Cats are killing machines! My roommate's cat already chewed 100$ worth of cable. No bass accident yet, thank god. I feel really sorry for your baby!
I heard a nasty scraping sound one day, walked into the practice room, and my cat was sharpening his claws on my 15" speaker (I had the grille off for servicing). He had totally shredded the thing. He was declawed shortly after. Chris
we have two cats ...... i havent had any problems with them yet. theyre hardly in my room. "my" cat was walking around my room and wandered over by my amp. i slightly "plucked" my b string ...... shazam!! the cat went flying out of the room... it was hilarious, then i felt sorry for it, then it was hilarious again. sorry to hear about the incident.
I used the Soungear for Rap, R&B, Synth and Heavy Metal tracks I liked its smooth lowend, greasy mids and tight highs I'm bassically shooting for the same sound but with a fuller tone.
there are three cats in my house. I have one that scratches on my amp, one that pisses all over it, and one that it is so fat it just lays on the floor struggling to breath.
My cat fears my basses and bass gear. He looks at it, sniffs it, and runs. When I got my eden rig, he just stared at it, no rubbing, no clawing, no nothing. The cat is smart. For an SR-405, (assuming you love it) I'd look into Bartolini pickups and pre-amp. They sound fairly close to what you are looking for. Or, maybe EMG...pickups are such a fickle thing as far as what "sounds" good. Unfortunatly, it's hard to just swap electronics like strings, so we all get the shaft on that. Go Bartolini. Good stuff (IMHO)
there are two things cats are scared of: loud noises(should keep them away from your bass) and wonderbubbles! so practice a lot and keep a bubble machine by your amp!!!
your cat made the bass fall? what! are you keeping a Bengal Tiger as a pet??? my cat is a pretty large goon (persian dude) he weighs 5 Kg and still I belive he can't put my bass through the short fall to the floor. actually he never even showed any interest in my music gear, ussually he wouldn't care if I play the bass when he's in the room and when I play the saxophone he runs like hell (am I that bad?). the only evil he does is kill lizards and roachs and play with their dead bodies (not to mention stow them under the carpet for future use).
I know some used gear I'll be passing on My cats looks at my cabs and then looks at me when he wants to go outside. "Let me out or the Aguilar gets it!"
