I'm after a new bass. Just a cheapy, I need a 5 string (off to Uni, greater flexibility etc), but I've been looking at some 6's too and I really want one. I'm gonna go for one off the Rondo Music so I'll be importing (I'm in the UK). But I really can't decide between 5 and 6. I'm not sure I'd get much use out of the high C, but then perhaps getting a 6 would inspire me to look into other genres of music that would incorporate it? Argh, someone help!
Up 2 U - Duh? Sorry..... IMO I'd go 4 a 5'er. BUT if U feel happy with the size of a 6 str. neck etc.. then go 4 it! IME a 5 str. is about as wide a neck as I'm gonna go- Still FAR more comfy on a 4 for me! BUT a 6 WILL inevitably increase your knowledge of the possibilities of bass-dom. If it were me- Go for a 5! You- ????????????
Out of the Rondo basses I've been looking at, the Douglas WEB-826 comes out cheaper than the five I'm looking at anyway! I've had 5s before and I'm quite happy having massive necks etc. I think I may end up going for the six!
