I just brought about one of the first signs of the apocolypse by trading my Stingray 5 in on a '97 Thumb 5 NT and I could'nt be more ecstatic. Please don't hate me cause its beutiful .
Pardon my spelling . I really have always loved that warwick growl and especially the way it's present in the highs of there thumb nt line. I also just love the over all look of the thumb 5's and even the way the neck feels like I could take it to the batting cages , but honestly its always felt like a supremely solid bass in my hands to me. The Stingray 5 was only a step(a great step but a step none the less)towards the sound I have in my head and so far this Thumb 5 NT is closest to that. ....Play What You Dig.
CONGRATS!!! i too went from a musicman (sterling) to a thumb of the same era! 'course i still have my sterling... but yeah, you want growl, this is the bass to have. everything just feels and sounds perfect to me. lots of people bitch about warwick necks...but i think having something substantial is the way to go. and, if i may recommend, try your new thumb thru an SWR interstellar overdrive preamp. i just got one, and it brings out the EXACT sound i wanted. fat, clean, huge lows, growly mids, and a clear top end. it sounds EXACTLY like the bass sounds acoustically. jason
awesome, man! everytime i try out a musicman i think "this bass is really cool, but if i got it, i'd love it for a while but get tired of it." the feeling i get from a good warwick is pure gold. i gotta have that growl.
