i'm in the process of building an electric 6-string, and i want to make it at least 36 inch scale, if not 38. problem is, no one seems to list the scale lengths of their strings, there's never an explanation as to how long 'extra-long' is.
since i'm building it, i was thinking of using upright bass strings, but finding a six string set is tough, and i'm not sure if the huge diameter stings will create so much tension that i'll need an overly thick neck. i realize that i'll have to wrap the ball ends back around the body a la the Ned Steinberger EUB.
    thanks for any help! -tim

Try Carl Thompson strings, I know he makes 38" scale basses.

Fodera makes 36" sets and I just tried a beta set of Thomastik Infelds and would think they'll be available soon.
