Hi guys. I'm wondering what this P bass is worth? It's on the local Kijiji. I like it but seems like a lot of money. I love oddball guitars. I like the bridge, never seen one like that before. I'm a rookie bass player and still learning my way lol.

$600 seems rather stiff for a 7 year old Squier.

Maybe half that, and even then, only if you can't find any other basses where you are.
I would like to see another one that says "Active" on the headstock though.
I can't remember ever seeing that before.

Those Fender Squier series are not strictly Squiers. There was some sort of transition where they were made in Japan due to production issues in California. I don’t recall the entire story but you can look it up.

I bought one for a song a bunch of years ago. Was a solid black Fender label. Was a decent bass with some cheaper parts. Played nice.

It’s worth *something* but not as much as the seller would like. The replacement bridge and replacement case aren’t worth a whole lot extra on resale. Given that you’re in Canada as well, $300-400 might be a more reasonable number. Worth more than a basic Squier but not worth as much as an Am Fender. Think MIM value.

Edit: here’s a good explanation - The Fender "Squier Series" Stratocaster—Not a Typical Squier!

It has a very expensive,(and heavy and irreversible ) 2tek bridge installed. that’s where the asking price comes from. They’re tryin* to pass the cost along

That’s all really good reading, but this bass says Made in Korea on the headstock.

That bridge alone probably added 1-2 pounds to the weight of that thing

Folks the asking price of $600.00 is Cdn dollars which is approx $450.00 US and there's a flight case included.

In Canada, we don't have the volume of instruments available that you folks in the US have so prices are higher here. Plus we pay more for our instruments new than our American friends just because of exchange, duty etc.

The OP should have asked this question specifically to his fellow Canadian players IMO.

I've seen Squier Active Ps in the eBay Germany want ads going in the €200-€400 range, depending on condition/options/color.

CA$600 is almost exactly €400, so he's asking in the high end of what I see.

But I have no clue what the market is like in central Alberta.

Do you think it's worth it? Have you picked her up, smacked her bottom, caressed her neck, and made her moan?

In that case, maybe it's worth $400 CDN.
I don't see the case as a benefit, I see it as a burden.

Squier Series Fenders aren’t Squiers. They’re Fenders.

I’m not familiar with the Korean ones, but the black-label MIMs from the early ‘90s run around $400US or so hereabouts. Tops. They’re also Squier Series, but of a slightly different persuasion.

  17. I'm pretty sure this is a Korean bass.

  18. Yah I agree totally, that's what I'd pay for an American P. I'd only want it cuz it's different.

    Yes, according to the headstock
Other than that, a quick check showed these.
The Sire is a big favorite around here and if you like them rather odd, I'd definitely check out that Brubaker.
