Important Obsidian 7000 fact (Line 6 Helix family users)

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by bassophile, Nov 25, 2019.

  1. I've recently discovered that it inverts the polarity of the signal, so if you want to use it in parallel or split crossover path you should put it in Path B with polarity switch set on Invert in mixer block. In that way you restore lost freq due to phase cancelation. Original Darkglass pedal does not invert polarity.

Finally I managed to make some very good X Ultra like sounds.

If i'm using it on path A, then it should not have any issues i suppose?

  3. If you have effects in both A and B paths, Obsidian will make phase problems in regard of B path signal. So you can put path B polarity on Invert to solve the issue.
If you don't have parallel paths than there should not be any phase issues but sound can differ in a way that in some applications and relations it could be better choice (or not).

Just confirmed with Sound Design that this is indeed a bug. Will be fixed in 2.90.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  5. That's great. Thanks.
