+1 on the Veyron being beautiful.
My 78 AMC Concord hit about 64MPH once. Any faster and the engine would have just dropped.
Ever seen this video?
Bussa engine in a kart.
As far as cars I own, 160mph of sustained speed for approx. half a mile in my 1986 Callaway Twin-Turbo Corvette, and as far as a car I don't own it was 200 even for approx. a quarter mile in a friends 1997 Toyota Supra. The only thing he has ever told me about his car ( with dyno sheet to prove it ) is that it has a little over 1100 hp to the wheels, which scares the hell out of me.
147 Yamaha R6, motorcycle. On an empty street
Otherwise my quickest was 115 in a Toyota Avalon
That's damn good for a two liter.
I've only pushed the 2.0 in my Beetle to about 120.
I had a Mercedes SL500 showing 140mph and a Chrysler 300SRT8 about the same. Both sustained on expressways during the day. Saw a state trooper about 3 miles after I brought the SRT8 down to speed and was pretty glad I hadn't kept it up.
